I obtained my PhD from Maastricht University in Economics. I have also MSc in Public Policy and Human Development specialized social policy financing from Maastricht University. I started my professional career as an operation assistant in a private insurance company. My interest in social and economic policies drove me to join the National Bank of Ethiopia, where I worked for 2 years as microfinance supervisor. After my MSc, I worked for the Netherlands Development Organization, as Economic Development Advisor for 3 years. I also did a fellowship at chief economist office of Africa region vice president office of the World Bank Group. I am an active member of Ethiopian Economic association and Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE). Currently, I am a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Pretoria, Economics department.
