Dr Carlos Gustavo Machicado is a senior researcher at the Institute for Advanced Development Studies (INESAD), Bolivia. He is currently leading a project to investigate the macroeconomic impacts of a change in the exchange rate policy in Bolivia.
Dr Machicado holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chile, Chile and a Master’s in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His key research interests include economic development and growth, economic policy, economic history and impact evaluation.
Between 2015 and 2017 he was the Executive Director at INESAD and previously (2000-2003), he worked as sectorial analyst at the Unit of Analysis of Economic and Social Policies (UDAPE) of the Bolivian government.
He has published academic articles in international journals such as the Journal of Macroeconomics, B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics, World Development and Review of Development Economics; and has publications in books on economic growth, climate change, economic and financial crisis, and productivity.
