Luc Savard

Luc Savard is an economist with over two decades of experience in academia and thirty years in international economic policy. He is currently an Associate at AVISEO Conseil and President of LS Eco Conseil.

He earned his PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics in 2006. Over his academic career, he spent five years at the Faculty of Governance, Economics, and Social Sciences (FGSES) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco, following more than 15 years as a professor in the Department of Economics at Université de Sherbrooke. At Sherbrooke, he co-founded and directed the Research Group in Economics and International Development (GREDI) and served as director of economics programs from 2015 to 2019.

Before transitioning to academia, he spent five years as a team leader and program manager at IDRC-Canada’s Western and Central Africa regional office in Dakar. Earlier in his career, he was a research associate at CREFA at Laval University for seven years and worked as an expert for international institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, UNICEF, AfDB, and OECD.

Luc Savard has authored over seventy scientific publications and book chapters. He is also the co-author of Economic Policy for Development and Computable General Equilibrium Models. His research focuses on environmental, agricultural, and public policies, with an emphasis on their effects on economic growth and social impact analysis. He is an associate editor for the International Journal of Microsimulation and serves on the board of the International Microsimulation Association.
