Paola Ballon

Paola is Senior Researcher in Development Economics at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Envirornmet, University of Oxford, U.K. and former resource person at PEP. She is also a Research Associate and former Research Officer at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), of the University of Oxford in U.K. Paola holds a PhD in Econometrics from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Her expertise comprises the econometric analysis and measurement of multidimensional poverty, female empowerment and water-security. She has lead several training courses with PEP and OPHI including the PEP UNICEF-MENA regional training course on Multidimensional Child Poverty and Inequality Measurement in 2013. Paola is Associate Editor of Oxford Development Studies, and former member of the Editorial Board of the Review of Income and Wealth. She has published in high-quality peer-reviewed journals such as World Development, Journal of Development Studies, Journal of African Economies, African Development Review. She is also a co-author of the seminal book on Multidimensional Poverty Measurement and Analysis published by Oxford University Press in 2015.
