Ángela Guarín is an Associate Professor at the Alberto Lleras Camargo School of Government at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). She earned a PhD in Social Welfare and an MSW from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and completed undergraduate training in Sociology and Communication at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá). Her research focuses on the dynamic links between public policy and family well-being, analyzing both how policy interventions shape families’ decisions and outcomes and how transformations in family structures create new challenges and opportunities for policymaking, particularly in the area of child support. Methodologically, she combines qualitative and quantitative approaches and applies a differential lens to the study of inequality among vulnerable groups in Colombia, including migrants, women, LGBTQI+ populations, and ethnic minorities. Her work also addresses gender and social policy, as well as the evaluation of programs and interventions.
