Ricardo Nogales C is currently a Full Professor of Economics, and Dean of Research in Economics at Universidad Privada Boliviana, a Research Associate at the Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative (OPHI) - University of Oxford, a Fellow of the Global Labor Organization, and a Permanent Member (with number) of the Bolivian Academy of Economic Sciences
He holds a BSc and MSc in Economics and a PhD in Econometrics, all from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. His main interest is the analysis of human development, poverty, and inequality in light of econometric models. He conducts academic research and advises Governments in developing countries on the design, monitoring, and evaluation of policies against poverty.
He was a Research Officer at OPHI from 2018 to 2021, a Lecturer of Economics Universidad Privada Boliviana (UPB) from 2008 to 2018, and a Research Assistant at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) in Switzerland during 2007. At UPB, he was also the Academic Director of the BSc. Program in Economics, and the Director of the Research Center in Economics.
He carried out research activities in the field of development economics, poverty reduction and human development with the IDB, UNDP, ILO, World Bank, Oxfam, and IDRC. He has published tens of articles in top academic journals including the Journal of Development Economics, World Development, and chapters in books edited by Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press.
