Alphonse Singbo is agricultural economist and professor at the Department of Agri-food Economics and Consumer Sciences at Laval University. He has worked previously at the International crops research institute for the semi-arid tropics (ICRISAT), one of the 15 CGIAR centers. He has excellent expertise in microeconomics and applied econometrics. He has a very good expertise in empirical research methodology. He has worked for more than a decade on agricultural value chain performance, impact assessment, modeling and has developed a methodology to assess marketing efficiency. He has extensive knowledge of the agricultural sector in West and Central Africa. He has been interested for several years in issues related to the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises and the welfare of small farmers in Africa. He has excellent knowledge of agricultural policies in several countries such as Canada, the European Union countries, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.
