Hanan Morsy is a renowned macro-economic and public policy expert with vast experience in international financial institutions and the private sector.
She is the Director of Macroeconomic Forecasting and Research at the African Development Bank and has previously worked at The European Bank for Reconstruction and Develop and the International Monetary Fund.
She is also a Board of Trustee Member at the London Middle East Institute, a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum, a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Member of the Economic Policy Panel for Aberdeen.
Dr. Morsy has published extensively on a wide range of economic and development issues and led a number of major flagship publications. Her research interests and publications include youth unemployment and inequality, the impact of structural reforms on growth and productivity, exchange rate and competitiveness, financial crisis contagion, sudden capital stops, inflation, and fiscal vulnerability and debt.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the George Washington University (USA), a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Davis (USA), and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science from the American University in Cairo (Egypt).
In 2020, Dr. Morsy was named one of Egypt’s 50 most influential women.
Dr. Morsy is a member of the Board of the Partnership for Economic Policy.
