Hiywot Menker is a postdoctoral fellow at the Public and Environmental Economics Research Centre (PEERC) in the Department of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Johannesburg. Her research interests lie in the area of development economics, environmental valuation and policy, energy, water, climate change, and agriculture. Hiywot completed her Ph.D at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and her masters and undergraduate studies at Alemaya University in Ethiopia. She attended a number of conferences and workshops in areas of environment, agriculture, and human capital development. Currently, she is the head of Agriculture and Environment unit at PEERC in the Department of Economics and Econometrics.
