Ms. Khiev Pirom is a Research Fellow at the Center for Policy Research in Agriculture and Rural Development (CPARD) of the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI). As one of CDRI’s lead female researchers, she brings over 15 years of professional experience in applied research, with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Her research interests center on food and nutrition, agricultural and food system transformation, agricultural value chains, and impact evaluation in Cambodia and the broader Southeast Asian region. Importantly, she has contributed to contextualizing international research methods within Cambodia’s local realities, ensuring that findings are both rigorous and relevant to national development priorities.
Ms. Pirom has established strong expertise in data management and advanced quantitative analysis, particularly in designing and implementing mixed-methods impact evaluations. At CDRI, she has led and contributed to a wide range of research projects, producing high-quality reports and peer-reviewed publications. These outputs have provided evidence-based insights that inform policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders, thereby strengthening the role of research in agricultural and rural development policy formulation.
A defining feature of her research approach is the integration of gender as a cross-cutting dimension. Ms. Pirom actively incorporates gender perspectives into study designs and promotes inclusive methodologies that reflect the experiences of women and marginalized groups. Through this commitment, her research not only advances academic knowledge but also directly supports inclusive and sustainable development in Cambodia and the region.
