In many low-income countries, women are in jobs that pay less and provide limited or no social protection. This is partly because of the social, economic and legal contexts that make the costs of participating in the labour market higher for women, and the benefits lower, thereby limiting female access to decent work. This study aims to examine how such barriers affect female access to decent work in developing countries using a cross-country analysis. The findings of the study will be used to provide policy recommendations for improving labour market outcomes for females.
